WE decided to go full steam ahead and go hybrid for one of our book club adventures...

e ended up at Winestyles Tasting Station, a local Chicago wine store, where we enjoyed wine and other snacks paired with our Book Tastings. Not only were there a handful of women in person for the event, but there were a couple of women who attended via Zoom too.
Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid, along with our conversation about the book, was rich thanks to the themes of: friendship, interracial relationships, privilege, and wealth.
It was wonderful to discuss a book in “real time”, while enjoying Sauvignon Blanc and Tempranillo. Both wines were sharp and engrossing, just like the story! The wines complimented the complex and layered experience we all had while reading.
We also chose to snack on OMG Candy Bars from Amy’s Candy Bar as our chocolate pairing for this book. With the different layers and sweet surprise, I do not think there is another chocolate option that could have been paired so perfectly with the book!
The hour flew by: talking, noshing, sipping, connecting, and giggling…
As the event came to a close, Connie and I found ourselves grinning from ear to ear. What a perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
Talking about a book, while enjoying various pairings and each other… can there be anything better? Yes, but this experience would be a close second!
