THIS cycle of book club discussions and adventures WAS ONE FOR the books....
In honor of Women’s History Month, we had the extreme pleasure to time travel in our curated “Old World” batch, visiting WII, the American Civil War, as well as some other time periods in just a matter of days!
During one of our evenings, we discussed the book, D-Day Girls: The Spies Who Armed the Resistance, Sabotaged the Nazis, and Helped Win WWII, by Sarah Rose. Sarah researched this topic thoroughly and showcased a riveting story about the courageous and inspiring women who were spies during WWII. We had a captivating conversation about perseverance, patriotism and gender equality!
We also enjoyed a virtual wine tasting with winemaker Adam McBride from Hickory Creek Winery, who generously put together exclusive New Book Joy Tasting Flight Kits for all of our event attendees (inspired by the wine styles of France, where much of D-Day Girls took place). Find out more about what makes this Midwest winery our favorite to frequent in the blog below:
Another evening we learned about the art of making chocolate in a virtual tasting with Journey Shannon from Noir d’Ébène Chocolat et Patisserie. Find out how her chocolates compliment our recent reading of Conjure Women by Afia Atakora in the blog below:
AND that’s not all! We embarked on a virtual cooking class with Jessica and made various cocktails in a virtual mixology class with Shelby too, two experiences (and two amazing books) that we can’t wait to share with you sometime soon…
As we get ready for our next round of book discussions and adventures, we are looking forward to welcoming summer with our “Beach Wines” batch. What a perfect time to embrace longer days and warmer weather!
